On Thursday November 3 rd , 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Owen Sound Emergency Personnel responded to the corner of 10 th Street and 2 nd Avenue East, Owen Sound with regards to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The investigation revealed that a 51 year old Owen Sound resident, heavily under the influence of alcohol decided to sit down on the road side curb on 10 th Street just west of 2 nd Avenue East. The male party did so as traffic started to move after being stopped for traffic signal. Unfortunately the male upon sitting found his legs to be under a large truck which ran over them as it moved forward.
The driver, of what witnesses described as being a large red transport truck or large cube style truck, ran over the legs of the male party. The truck failed to stop, very possible that the driver of the large vehicle did not realize what had happened. The injured male party was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for a broken ankle.
The identity of the truck driver currently remains unknown. Anyone with information with regards to this incident is encouraged to contact Constable McLeod of the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-1234 ext. 140.
