Truck Full of Stolen Property – Three Charged

(Goderich, ON) On January 30, 2010 at approximately 2:30 am a group of suspicious males was called into the Huron OPP by a citizen. A vehicle had been observed in the Lee Crescent area in Goderich. The witness gathered descriptors on the vehicle and the occupants as well as a direction of travel and called the information into police immediately. Officers were able to get into the area quickly and a vehicle fitting the description was located near Strickland’s Motors. Two males were running in the area of a truck that contained two other males. All four were arrested after contact was made by officers. Stolen property was found inside the truck and as a result of the investigation three 18 year old males have been charged.

Matthew James ALLEN of Central Huron is now facing one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and one count of Theft Under $5,000. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 15, 2010.

David Murray JENKINS of Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh is also facing one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He will also be returning to court on March 15, 2010.

Lastly, Derick Linden MITCHELL of Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh is facing one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and one count of Theft Under $5,000. His court date is also set for Goderich on March 15, 2010.

Of note should be the quick actions of the witness. Had that individual waited before calling police, the chances of locating the suspects would have been drastically reduced. Police have not identified the owners of all the seized property so if you have items missing from your vehicle, please contact the Huron OPP.
