(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Thursday July 31, 2014, at 4:24 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Road 121 and Line 67.
Investigation revealed that a Chrysler Town and Country minivan was travelling south bound on Perth Road 121 approaching Line 67. A Peterbilt truck pulling a full sized trailer loaded with gravel was travelling west bound on Line 67. The truck proceeded into the intersection colliding with the driver’s side of the minivan. The impact caused both vehicles to end up in a soybean field located to the south west of the intersection.
The impact resulted in injuries to the seven occupants of the minivan. A male child and an adult male were transported from the scene by air ambulance to a London hospital. The remaining two children and three adults were transported to local hospital by land ambulance. One of these three adults, the 34 year old male driver of the van a resident from the Township of Perth South has since been transported to a London hospital for further treatment. The driver of the transport truck, a 23 year old male resident of the Municipality of North Perth was uninjured.
Perth Road 121 between Line 61 (in Poole) and Perth Line 72 (in Millbank) is expected to remain closed until approximately 10 p.m. This will allow the Perth County OPP and the OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit to safely investigate this collision. Charges are pending.
