Transport Strikes Building In Tavistock

(TAVISTOCK, ON) – On April 29, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County detachment, responded to the scene of a collision involving a tractor trailer striking a building.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Woodstock and Hope Streets in Tavistock. The intersection is controlled by traffic lights.

Investigation revealed that a transport was attempting to turn south on to Woodstock Street from Hope Street and misjudged the corner, striking a building. No injuries were reported.

Gurshan SINGH, 21-years-old of Calgary was charged with Careless Driving and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Police are minding tractor-trailer drivers to remember that they may need to proceed well into the intersection before beginning the turn. Generally, it is better to use more space from the road you are leaving than from the road you are entering. Use extreme caution and ensure the movement can be made safely.
