Traffic Violation Results In Criminal Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Friday August 14, 2015, around 12:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a Ford Ranger pickup truck for exceeding the speed limit along Perth Line 20 west of Road 140.

The officer detected the odour of freshly burnt marihuana inside the vehicle and subsequently seized marihuana and drug paraphilia. The male driver was also found to be breaching the conditions of a Justice imposed Recognizance.

29-year-old Domenic Karl SILVESTRO of Kitchener was arrested and has been charged with two counts of “fail to comply with recognizance”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with “possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana”, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On Friday morning August 14th, the accused appeared a bail hearing at Stratford Court where he was released on a Recognizance. He has a court date set for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 08, 2015, where he will have to answer to the charges.
