On January 3, 2013 at 9:47pm, Guelph Police stopped a car on Bristol Street for a traffic violation. When Police approached the car an odour of marihuana was detected. Police investigation into the two occupants first discovered the male driving was a disqualified driver due to a previous drive over 80mg conviction and that he also had a probation order that he was breaching and a Highway Traffic Act driver’s licence suspension. The man was arrested. The male passenger in the car was arrested as it was determined that he was in possession of marihuana. Subsequent to his arrest he was searched and Police located approximately $450 worth of marihuana and other drug paraphernalia items.
The driver, a 29 year old Guelph man was charged with drive disqualified and breach probation under the criminal code. He was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension and drive motor vehicle with no currently validated permit. He will appear in bail court on January 4, 2013.
The passenger, a 25 year old Guelph man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He will appear in court on February 15, 2013.
