Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest and Three Day Suspension

(GODERICH, ON) – A 33 year old male driver from Goderich is facing a charge of Driving While Disqualified following a traffic stop on January 26, 2014. Just after 1:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped the driver of a Chevrolet Venture Van on Cambria Road for a random sobriety check.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside test was administered and the driver registered a warn range suspension. The officer then completed routine driver’s licence checks and was notified the driver was currently prohibited from driving in Canada.

The driver was arrested and held for a bail hearing. He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to have a court appearance on February 3, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a mandatory 45 day impoundment.
