(LAMBTON, ON) – On Friday March 31st, 2017 at just before 4:00 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover collision involving a tractor trailer on 21 Highway in the area of Lakeshore Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores.
Lambton County OPP along with Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Municipality of Lambton Shores Fire Department responded to the area of 21 Highway and Lakeshore Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores. Upon arrival, responders located a tractor trailer rolled onto the passenger side and the load of over 43,000 kgs of corn spilled across 21 Highway.
Investigation revealed that the tractor trailer was traveling southbound on 21 Highway when a second vehicle, which was parked on the shoulder of 21 Highway, pulled out into the path of the tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer successfully swerved to avoid the collision with the second vehicle however could not prevent the tractor and loaded trailer from rolling over onto 21 Highway.
21 Highway in the area of Lakeshore Road was closed for several hours to allow crews to clear the roadway of debris and for the recovery of the tractor trailer. The 46 year old male driver of the tractor trailer was transported to hospital by EMS with only minor injuries. No charges have been laid in relation to this incident.
