(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Central District Investigation Unit has charged two men after an altercation in May.
On May 24, 2016, a tow truck operator who was filling up his truck at a gas bar located at Cyrville and Ogilvie Roads became involved in a verbal altercation with two males.
The altercation became physical and the male victim was struck over the head with a tire iron and stabbed with the jagged end of a broken snow brush. The victim was rendered unconscious at the scene as the suspects’ vehicle took off.
As a result of the police investigation, the suspects’ vehicle was seized at a business in the 1500 block of Triole Street and the two suspects were subsequently arrested a few days later.
Husain ZAID, 26 years old of Ottawa and Abdi ANONUG, 23 years old of Ottawa have been charged with Aggravated assault, Assault with a weapon, Possession of weapons dangerous and Mischief. Both have appeared in court before a justice and have been released on their own recognizance.
