Tired Driver Charged With Having Radar Warning Device

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday January 03, 2012 around 9 p.m. Perth County OPP officers in Listowel received calls of a KIA Sorento that was traveling west bound on Perth Line 86 and had almost hit other vehicles.

Officers with the assistance of the public (who called and provided locations of the suspect vehicle) located the KIA traveling north bound on Hwy 23 between Line 87 and Line 88. The driver of the vehicle was spoken to and it was determined that he was fatigued. While at the side of the vehicle officers observed a Radar Detector inside the vehicle. The 54 year old male driver from the Municipality of North Perth was charged with “drive motor vehicle with speed measuring warning device”. This resulted in the seizure of his radar detector, a $170 ticket and a subsequent accumulation of 3 demerit points.
