The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Tilbury early this morning.
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Dupuis Avenue near Canal Street West. The man was travelling northbound on Dupuis Avenue when he struck a tree. Through investigation, the officer believed that the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The driver was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
The man was not injured. Total damage was estimated at $5000.
A 31-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He remains in police custody this morning.
