(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Thursday morning July 26, 2012, between 1:15 and 3:30 a.m. Perth County OPP officers responded to numerous alarm and emergency calls at businesses, schools and public buildings. The calls were a result of thunderstorms passing through the area. All calls were determined to be non emergent in nature.
Shortly after 3:15 a.m. however, officers were called to assist the Township of Perth East Fire Department as they battled a shed fire along Perth Line 36 north-west of Sebringville. Investigation revealed that the detached shed used for straw and hay storage on the rural property caught fire when a severe lightning storm passed over. The shed and its contents, as well as a farm tractor, were lost in the fire.
