(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST AND PERTH SOUTH, ON) – Between 10:00 p.m. on Friday September 19th, and shortly after 12:00 a.m. Saturday September 20th, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped three drivers for operating their motor vehicles at high rates of speed.
Just after 10:00 p.m., a GMC Jimmy was pulled over on Road 139 west of St.Marys for travelling at 120 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver, a 20 year old male resident of London was charged with speeding. He was also arrested and processed for the following Criminal Code of Canada offences; “fail to comply with probation orderâ€Â, and “possession of a schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 gramsâ€Â. He is to appear in Stratford Criminal Court on October 27, 2014 to answer to these charges.
Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Friday September 19th, a Pontiac Torrent was stopped for speeding on Hwy 7/8 east of Shakespeare. The vehicle was travelling at 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The 22 year old male driver, a resident of Kitchener was charged with “race a motor vehicleâ€Â. He is to appear in Stratford Court to answer to this charge. His vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days while his licence was suspended for a week.
Around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday September 20th, a Toyota Camry travelling east bound on Perth Line 43 east of Amulree, was locked in on police radar at 143 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The 21 year old male driver, a resident of Stratford was charged with “race a motor vehicleâ€Â. He is to appear in Stratford Court to answer to this charge. His vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days while his licence was suspended for a week.
