Three Vehicle Crash Sends Nine To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday July 20, 2012, at 6:23 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a three vehicle collision on Hwy 7/8 east of Shakespeare.

Investigation revealed that a Ford Focus and a Pontiac Grand Prix were travelling west bound on Hwy 7/8 just east of Road 106, when they slowed down and stopped for a vehicle which was entering into a private laneway. The driver of a west bound Saab came upon the two vehicles but was unable to stop her vehicle in time. The Saab struck the back of the Grand Prix which in turn struck the Focus.

The impact resulted in the transporting of nine out of the ten vehicle occupants to Stratford General Hospital where they were treated and released. The vehicles sustained extensive damage and required to be towed from the scene. The female driver of the Saab, a 28 year old Perth South resident, has been charged with “careless driving”.
