(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) – At approximately 2:07 p.m., on February 16, 2017, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received information of a three vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Highway 89 and Greenbriar Road in New Tecumseth.
Further investigation revealed that the three vehicles were travelling westbound on Highway 89. A silver Honda Civic and a red Dodge Challenger were stopped at the red traffic lights at the intersection of Highway 89 and Greenbriar Road. The third vehicle travelling westbound then rear-ended the stopped Honda Civic, causing severe damage and pushing it into the Dodge Challenger.
The drivers of the Honda Civic and Dodge Challenger remained at the scene of the collision, while the third vehicle fled from the scene. That vehicle is described to be a red, GMC Sierra pickup truck, mid 2000’s model and with extensive front end damage. The driver is described to be a white male, approximately 50 years of age and grey short hair.
The male driver of the Honda Civic was transported to Stevenson Memorial Hospital by ambulance for precautionary reasons and was later released. The male driver of the Dodge Challenger was checked and cleared by ambulance at the scene.
