On January 8, 2014 at 11:50 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to Gordon Street North and Maltby Road for a collision. It is alleged that a 24-year-old Manitoulin Island female was driving her Chevrolet car north on Gordon Street when the car began to slide on ice and entered the southbound lane. A 64-year-old Maryhill man was driving a transport truck southbound and tried to avoid the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet was struck in the rear and sent back into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a Toyota driven by a 55-year-old Strathroy man.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to hospital but her injuries were minor. The driver of the transport also sustained minor injuries. The three vehicle total damage is estimated at $30,000. Gordon Street was closed for two hours as the collision was investigated and the area cleaned up of debris and vehicles.
