Three Rescued Near Owen Sound When Boat Takes On Water

(GEORGIAN BAY, ON) – On August 27, 2016 at approximately 6:33 p.m., were called after a Wilker Galaxie 16 power boat began taking on water and partially submerged in Georgian Bay east of Owen Sound.

The three people on board the vessel, a 58-year old female and a 55-year old male from the Municipality of Meaford, and a 51-year old male from the Township of Chatsworth, were brought to shore by another boater where they were examined by Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and released.

Investigation revealed that a leak in the vessel’s hull went unnoticed until the boat took on too much water and submerged. The vessel was towed to shore without incident.

The Owen Sound Fire Department assisted at the scene.
