Three Racers Busted

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Saturday August 01, 2015, around 4:40 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols on Perth Line 20 near Road 140 (east of Fullarton).

The officer observed two fast moving west bound vehicles travelling well in excess of the posted speed limit. The use of the police radar determined that the speed of both vehicles was in excess of 130 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. The first vehicle, a Jaguar sedan and the second vehicle, a Nissan sedan, were pulled over by the officer.

The driver of the Jaguar, 49-year-old Dan-Vasile PASCA of Kitchener, and the driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Murtaza AMARSI of Richmond Hill were both issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

They are to appear at Stratford Court on August 25, 2015 to answer to these charges. Their driver’s licences were suspended for seven days. In addition, their vehicles were towed from the scene and have been impounded for a week.

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Monday August 03, 2015, shortly after 7 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer was on patrol along Perth Line 55 west of Monkton, when a west bound Kia sedan was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer utilizing the police radar was able to determine that the vehicle was nearly travelling twice the posted speed of 80 km/h. The vehicle was pulled over by the officer and the 23-year-old male driver, Dylan Ross HUSTON from Kitchener was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He must appear at Stratford Court on September 22, 2015 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed and has been impounded for a week.

The Perth County OPP wants to remind motorists that there will continue to be a heavy police presence on Perth County roads this summer. Officers will be concentrating patrols on heavily travelled east-west roads, intersections where there have historically been high numbers of collisions and in locations from which traffic complaints have been received.
