During the evening of Friday, November 18, 2016 and morning of Saturday, November 19, 2016, a Waterloo Regional Police officer arrested three impaired drivers during self-initiated traffic stops in Cambridge. The first stop occurred November 18 at 7:15 p.m. on King Street East in Cambridge. A 55-year-old Cambridge man was charged with impaired driving and over 80 mg. At 11:50 p.m. on November 18, the same officer pulled over another vehicle on Hespeler Road in Cambridge. A 38-year-old Cambridge female was charged with impaired driving and over 80 mg. At 2:30 a.m. on November 19, the same officer pulled over another vehicle at the intersection of Bishop Street and King Street in Cambridge. A 37-year-old Cambridge man was charged with impaired driving, over 80 mg and possession of a controlled substance. Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind the public about the dangers of impaired driving. If you plan to drink alcohol, please arrange for overnight accommodations or for alternate driving options, such as a cab or public transit. We also want to remind the public to help keep our roads safe by reporting impaired drivers.
