(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment Commander Chris Martin would like to take the opportunity to invite media personnel and members of the public to attend a Bridge Dedication Ceremony honouring fallen OPP Provincial Constables Bruce Crew, David Mounsey and Vu Pham.
Constable Bruce Crew died on September 25, 1983 while assisting the former Goderich Police Service in a high speed chase. He was struck by another police vehicle as he was walking toward the suspect vehicle.
Constable David Mounsey died on November 13, 2006 from injuries he sustained from a motor vehicle collision on October 14, 2006. Constable Mounsey was responding to a truck rollover collision when his cruiser left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.
Constable Vu Pham died on March 8, 2010 when he was shot after he pulled over a domestic assault suspect in a vehicle on a county road north of Seaforth.
Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Chris Lewis will officially dedicate the Bridge in Goderich that crosses the Maitland River in the name of Bruce Crew, the Bridge in Bayfield that crosses the Bayfield River in the name of David Mounsey and the Bridge in Port Albert that crosses the Nine Mile River in the name of Vu Pham. Please join us in commemorating the life and sacrifices of these officers.
