Three Charged In Gas Drive Off – Stolen Vehicle, Breach Probation, Flight From Police

(GODERICH, ON) – At approximately 8:30 a.m. on October 12, 2011, Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a “gas drive off” from Goderich Shell (Edward Fuels) on Victoria Street in Goderich. South Bruce OPP located the vehicle traveling Northbound on Bluewater Highway. A short pursuit ensued and was terminated due to public safety. The vehicle was later located in a field North of Zion Road and became stuck. Three suspects fled from the vehicle and entered a bush. A check was done on the vehicle (2003 Dodge Ram Pick Up Truck) and it was determined to be stolen out of Perth County. The OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, South Bruce, Huron County and Perth County Crime Units and general law enforcement officers contained the area where the suspects were last seen.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. the search was called off. At 4:40 p.m. Huron County OPP received a call of three suspicious parties walking along side the road. Officers were still in the area attended and located the three suspects identified as the same ones from the earlier incident.

As a result of the investigation, Jacob DEJONG (18) of West Perth has been charged with one count of Theft Under $5000, one count of Mischief Under $5000, one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, three counts of Breach of Probation, and one count of Flight from Police Officer. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton on October 13, 2011.

Derek HULLEY (23) of Stratford has been charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, one count of Theft Under $5000, one count of Mischief Under $5000, one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and one count of Breach of Probation Order. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton on October 13, 2011.

A 15 year old female from Stratford has also been charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, one count of Theft Under $5000, one count of Mischief Under $5000, and one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. She will answer to her charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton on December 1, 2011. LP11290223
