(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Sunday afternoon June 12, 2016, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers located a pickup truck on Louise Ave North in Listowel, the truck had been reported stolen a short time before. By locating the truck, officers discovered a crime spree committed by 3 individuals.
Officers on patrol observed a suspicious male in the vicinity of the stolen Ford F-150 pickup truck. The arrest of this suspicious male around 7 p.m. led to the arrest of two additional males as the three had been seen together by police a short time earlier.
An hour before, shortly after 6 p.m., on Sunday June 12th, the North Perth OPP received a call from a business owner reporting extensive damage to trucks parked at a transportation company on Main St West in Listowel. Eight Highway tractors had windows smashed to gain entry into the trucks.
Evidence gathered at the scene of damaged trucks allowed officers to link the three arrested males to the damaged Highway tractors.
21-year-old Brandon BOTHMA, and 19-year-old Cooghan WHITTON both Municipality of North Perth Residents have been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
Mischief over $5,000
Theft of motor vehicle
Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
The third male a 17-year-old youth has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
Mischief over $5,000
Theft over $5,000
Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
The two adult males will be appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on July 27, 2016, to answer to the charges. The male youth will appear on the same date at the Youth Justice Court in Listowel, where he will have to answer to the charges.
