(WEST PERTH, ON) – The dedicated members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their efforts to reduce alcohol related driving offences across the county by removing offending drivers from our roadways.
During the evening hours of February 23, 2018, Perth County OPP officers located an impaired driver whose blood alcohol concentration was more than double the legal limit, as well as two drivers who have been charged with having open alcohol in a motor vehicle. All three incidents occurred in the Municipality of West Perth.
These occurrences serve as a stark reminder that the combination of alcohol consumption and motor vehicle operation still exists. The dangers of alcohol and drug impaired driving are well known, and there is no excuse.
Impaired driving will not be tolerated. Consequences include the loss of your vehicle, a driver’s licence suspension, criminal charges, serious injury or death. Plan ahead; call a taxi, select a designated driver, or spend the evening. The life you save could be your own.
Report dangerous or concerning driving behaviour immediately by calling 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, call police at 1-888-310-1122.
