Thieves Twitter Selfies And Photos Of Their Crime And Get Arrested

On the 16th of December 2014, a downtown establishment was hosting a private Christmas party in one of their private rooms located within the establishment. A male and female in their early 20’s snuck into the private party unnoticed and went and hid behind the bar located in the room. The two proceeded to helping themselves to the hard liquor stored behind the bar and started off by doing shooters all while taking selfies and photos of each other drinking the alcohol. Once done having a few shooters, they concealed 5-7 bottles on their person and attended to the rear patio of the premise where they continued to consume the alcohol. Management of the staff were made aware of the two drinking on the patio and when approached the male and female fled the bar with their alcohol.

On the 17th of December 2014, in the morning hours, management were alerted to a male and female who were bragging on Twitter to being at the establishment, stealing the liquor and making good on their escape. Accompanied with the tweets were photos of the two parties drinking the stolen booze while hiding behind the bar. Management reviewed the on site video and matched the two parties to those in the photo’s on Twitter. They immediately contacted police.

Investigating officers did a check of the Twitter accounts and as a result identified the two suspects. The male was located, arrested and charged. The female who resides in Barrie was out of town but returning on Christmas eve at which time she will be arrested and charged.

Although the 20 year old male and female have likely landed themselves on Santa’s naughty list…the Barrie Police have provided the pair a gift of a mid-January court date where they will appear for the charge of theft!
