Thieves Get Stuck In Mud

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday evening March 22, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers were called to a residence on Road 108 west of Shakespeare where the homeowner had discovered a break-in.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday March 22nd, while the homeowner was away, unknown suspects attended at the rural residence and broke into the home as well as a detached garage. The residence was searched through and some old coins and U.S. currency was stolen.

When the suspects attempted to drive their vehicle away from the residence, it became stuck in the slush and mud which was present in the front yard. They would have spent some time as they used a shovel to dig around the vehicle in attempts to get it unstuck.

The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone who has information about this break-in or who may have observed a suspicious and dirty vehicle along Road 108 during the time in question, to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
