Thefts In Millbank

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday morning May 19, 2010, Perth County OPP officers were called to a residence in Millbank where the homeowners had found their garage entered.

Investigation revealed that between 11 p.m. on Tuesday May 18th and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 19th entry was gained into their attached garage by means of an unlocked side door. The vehicle in the garage was entered and a small amount of money was removed from its interior. A brand new NOMA 10,000 BTU window air conditioner, still in the box, was also removed from the garage.

Officers checked with neighbouring residences and discovered that a neighbour’s unlocked vehicle had also been entered and a small amount of loose change was removed.

A number of unlocked vehicles along Perth Line 72 in the north end of Millbank were also entered and a power inverter was taken from one of the vehicles.

While officers were investigating the vehicle entries another home owner along Perth Line 72 reported a black 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup stolen from his driveway. A home made single axle utility trailer was also removed from the driveway. The truck had been left unlocked and the keys were left inside.

The pickup truck was recovered in Hamilton on Wednesday May 19, 2010. The trailer has not been located.

Police are reminding the public that it is important to lock their vehicles and homes so as to discourage these crimes of opportunity. “Lock it or Lose it”.
