(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday May 22, 2012, around 3:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a residence on Line 88 west of Road 146 in the hamlet of Wallace. The resident reported that his shed had just been broken into and his generator was stolen.
Investigation revealed that shortly before 3:30 a.m. the homeowner woke up from a noise outside his residence. He looked out his windows and noticed a light coloured Ford Econoline van without rear side windows, parked across the road in front of his house. The homeowner turned on the outside lights of the residence, at which time the van started to drive east bound. A male was observed running to the van from the home owner’s property. The male caught up to the van and jumped in as it turned to proceeded south bound on Road 146.
A check of the property revealed that a locked shed on the property had been forced open and a 4000 Watt Champion Model 46551 generator (yellow and black in colour) was removed. A full red plastic 5 gallon gas can was also taken.
A search of the area for the suspect van was unsuccessful.
