(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Monday morning October 03, 2011 Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a reported theft of gasoline from a bulk tank located at the AW Millwrights Ltd. yard on Spencer St. in Milveron.
Sometime between Friday evening September 30, 2011 and Monday morning October 03, 2011 unknown persons attended at the bulk tank located on the south west corner of the property which is a well lit and visible location. The lock on the tank was cut and the tank was pumped empty of its 4000 Litres of gasoline. This crime would have required a vehicle with a tank or a cube van with a bulk tank inside. It also would have taken a significant amount of time for the tank to be pumped empty.
Bulk tank owners are encouraged to be vigilant with the fuel stored on their properties as increases in fuel thefts escalate as fuel prices climb. Property owners and the general public are urged to call police if suspicious activity is observed in areas where fuel is stored. Anyone with information about this theft or anyone who observed suspicious persons or vehicles near AW Millwrights on the weekend is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
