(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – During the early evening hours of January 13, 2018, an unknown suspect(s) entered an address on Perth Road 141 in the Township of Perth South and removed fuel from the rural property.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., the owner observed an older model pick-up truck in the area. No further vehicle description was obtained. Upon inspection, the owner confirmed that fuel had been removed from a tank on the property.
Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate this incident and are reminding all homeowners that both rural and town properties are desirable targets for theft.
Do not make it easy for criminals; always secure property and vehicles. Remove the keys from all vehicles, including snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles, every time. Use your exterior lighting on a regular basis. Inform neighbours when you will be away, and make arrangements for someone to visit your property to maintain snow removal, etc. Report suspicious persons or vehicles to police immediately. Working together, we can work to reduce property crime in our communities.
