Theft of Copper and Plumbing Items

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday March 09, 2011, Perth County OPP officers in Listowel were called to a business in the industrial area on Nichol Ave. South where company vehicles had been entered and items were removed.

Two company work vans which were parked in the business parking lot had several windows smashed allowing entry into the vehicles. The incident took place sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday March 08, and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday March 09. From inside the vans, boxes of ½ and ¾ inch copper plumbing parts were removed (“T” and “elbow” fittings). Brass taps and other miscellaneous plumbing items were also taken. None of the tools in the vans were touched indicating that copper and brass items were targeted.

The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone who may have information about this theft to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or to call CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477. They also want to remind heating, plumbing, electrical and general contractors to have proper security measures in place for their shops and vehicles. The high value of supplies and tools they carry makes them vulnerable to tool and scrap metal thieves.
