(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday June 11, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the Hydro One yard at 590 Bright Street East in Listowel where theft of wire was reported.
Investigation revealed that sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Monday June 10th and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 11th, unknown person(s) gained access to the fenced Hydor One compound by cutting an opening at the South East corner of the yard. Inside the compound two large spools holding 100 meters of thick copper wire were unravelled removing it from the spools. The culprit(s) may have been inside the compound for hours, cutting the wire in short sections. A truck or trailer may have been used to remove the approximate 2000 pounds of wire. The estimated value of the theft is around $3,800.00
