On January 6, 2014 at 1:00 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to the area of Deerpath Drive after receiving a call about two males going car to car. Police located the two males on Lois Lane and attempted to arrest them. One male was arrested while the second fled on foot. A canine track was conducted and the second male was located and arrested a short distance away. Further investigation discovered that the males had not only stolen from unlocked cars but that they had also attempted to break into three homes on Deerpath Drive.
Police recovered 31 stolen items including cell phones, GPS, sunglasses and several phone chargers.
Police are requesting that if members of the public have had their vehicles entered overnight please contact the Guelph Police General Office at 519-824-1212 ext. 7241 to report any thefts.
An 18-year-old Guelph male has been charged with trespass by night, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and three counts of attempt break and enter. He will appear in court on January 15, 2014.
