Theft From Bridge Construction Site

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Thursday August 02, 2012, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to the Hwy 7 bridge construction site on the Wildwood Dam. When construction workers arrived for work shortly after 6 a.m. it was discovered that a construction tool storage container had been broken into.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday August 1st and 6 a.m. on Thursday August 2nd, 2012, the sea container which was used to store tools and equipment was forced open. The container is located on the west bound lane of the bridge between the two traffic control signals. The culprits removed specialized tools from the locked container, placed them in wheelbarrows and pushed them to the west end of the dam where the items were loaded into a vehicle. The thieves may have used tool belts and hard hats to disguise themselves as they made a number of trips back and forth from the container to their vehicle.

The stolen items include;

– 8 air powered rivet busters (used for bridge repair work)

– 2 air powered chipping guns

Anyone who may have seen individuals or a vehicle at this construction site between the above mentioned hours or who has information about this theft is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
