Theft And Recovery Of ATV

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday August 27, 2013, shortly before 7 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a suspicious ATV that was observed stopped in a ditch outside the hamlet of Kinkora.

As officers were proceeding to the location of the ATV, a call was received from a Kinkora resident advising their ATV had been stolen and that he was following it. The resident lost sight of the ATV due to the thick fog. Officers followed the sound of the ATV and the tracks it had left behind. Numerous sightings of the ATV led officers to a location 5 concessions south of Kinkora. The undamaged yellow Suzuki ATV was discovered in a drainage ditch near the hydro corridor between Line 29 and Line 32, (south west of Sebringville). The male suspect could not be located. The ATV has been returned to its owner.

Investigation into this theft revealed that the male suspect used a bicycle to travel to the area where the ATV was stolen. The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate this theft. They are requesting anyone who may have observed a male on a bicycle in the Kinkora area at the time of the theft to contact them. Anyone with information about this or other thefts is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
