Bryan Leckie brings his unique and extraordinary songwriting talent to the Legion Auditorium to kick off
the 2015 TD Harbour Nights concert season, Celebrating the Songwriters. Bryan (acoustic guitar) leads
the Krueger Band, with Rob McLean (keys), Dave Farrar (drums), Larry Dickinson (bass), Trevor
MacKenzie (guitars), and the Krueger Girls: Sylvie Kindree, Josie Elder, and Lauren Jewell (vocals).
June 28 – Discoveries Retrospective
Oh, the Places They’ve Been! Summerfolk’s Youth Discoveries alumni gather for a very special
showcase event. Not to be missed!
July 5 – Wendell Ferguson
In his own words, Wendell Ferguson is “a buffoon, a fool, a charlatan and a general nuisance…but he
can play the guitar (a bit).” He’s garnered 9 CCMA Awards, an OCPFA Lifetime Musician Award, was
twice nominated for a JUNO and recently inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
July 12 – Deanne Hallman
Owen Sound’s own Deanne Hallman began performing with The Benevolent Groundhogs at age 14. She
is a music educator and also performs as a solo artist. Globally influenced, Deanne will be sure to pour out
her soul… a singer-songwriter who can belt the blues, rock the house or sing a lullaby.
July 19 – Fraser & Girard
Veteran musicians Allan Fraser and Marianne Girard crossed paths throughout their individual careers.
Two years ago, they met over tea under a Japanese maple tree on College Street in Toronto. This was the
beginning of the masterful artistic mashup of Fraser & Girard, and from their earliest performances, their
chemistry was unmistakable.
July 26 – NADJIWAN
Under the name NADJIWAN Marc Meriläinen released 4 records from 1995 to 2008, landing on many
radio play lists on both sides of the border and receiving various nominations for Canadian Aboriginal
Music and Native American Music Awards. NADJIWAN’s current single ‘Only After’ recently hit #1 on the
National Aboriginal Top 40 recently. The band also performs in July at the Toronto Pan Am Games.
August 2 – Bobby Dean Blackburn & Friends
Bobby Dean Blackburn is a world class blues man and true Rock and Roller, with over 40 years of
experience entertaining audiences around North America. He has shared his stage with many musical
legends including Bo Diddley, Buddy Miles, Rick James and Canada’s own Liberty Silver. In association
with the 153rd Emancipation Festival, Bobby promises to bring along some very special guest musicians.
August 9 – Shawna Caspi
From cafes, soft-seat theatres, living rooms, festival stages, even trains, Shawna Caspi makes a living
singing her stories across Canada. Shawna’s Canadian folk roots are an intrinsic part of who she is. In
fact, Shawna as a solo musician is exactly who she is as a person – warm, inviting, a storyteller, a
traveler, a Canadian, an authentic artist.
August 16 – Larry Jensen
Larry Jensen has released 14 albums over the years featuring all original songs. In 2009, Larry received
the very first Owen Sound Cultural Award in recognition of his long standing musical contributions to his
home community. Larry has appeared many times on the TD Harbour Nights stage since its first season in
2002. As Owen Sound’s perhaps best known and appreciated songwriter, he’s the perfect choice to
conclude our 2015 season Celebrating the Songwriter”.
