On July 27, 2015 at approximately 7:40 pm., officers responded to an address in Kitchener for a male wishing to harm himself. On arrival, the male was holding a large butcher’s knife in his hand threatening to stab himself. Officers negotiated with the male and instructed him to drop the knife, however the male refused to do so. For his safety, police deployed the Conducted Energy Weapon, causing him to drop the knife. The male was safely apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
