Tammy Le Clair – Fail To Stop For Stopped School Bus

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On February 14, 2012 just before 4:00 p.m. a Huron OPP officer responded to a traffic complaint of a driver failing to stop for a stopped school bus with the overhead emergency lights activated. The investigation revealed a Honda Element was travelling southbound on London Road near the speed limit when the driver failed to stop for the stopped school bus. The bus driver was alert and didn’t allow the children off the bus. The licence plate was obtained and the driver was later charged.

Tammy LE CLAIR, age 32, from North Huron, ON has been charged with Fail to stop for school bus contrary to section 175 (11) Highway Traffic Act.

Huron OPP would like to remind drivers of their duty to STOP for a stopped school bus that has its overhead red signal lights flashing. A driver shall stop before reaching the bus and shall not proceed until the bus moves or the overhead red signal lights have stopped flashing. If charged and convicted, a first time offence carries a minimum $400 fine and 6 demerit points.
