Talking On Cell Phone While Driving Leads To Drunk Driving Chargre

(ST. MARYS, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently stopped and charged a driver that was placing all users of the roadway at risk. At 6:40 p.m. on August 3, 2013 a Perth County OPP officer spotted a Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling east on Queen Street East. The officer observed the driver chatting on his cell phone. Upon stopping the truck officers also noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested for Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician; both tests were above the legal limit.

Christian OWENS, 37, from Waterloo has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Stratford on September 16, 2013. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
