(LONDON, ON) – On February 24, 2018, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 401, near Westminster Drive.
The complainant reported a collision between a transport truck and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Police were advised that the driver of the SUV had initially stopped at the collision, however had re-entered the vehicle and continued westbound on Highway 401. Police located the baldly damaged vehicle west of the collision.
Officers determined that the 20-year-old female driver of the vehicle had consumed alcohol. She was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath tests. The breath tests revealed that the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.
As a result of the police investigation, Catlin NICHOLAS, of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, has been charged with Driving While Ability impaired, Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood and Take Vehicle Without Consent pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
The accused was also charged with Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero, pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on March 21, 2018.
