(HOWICK TWP, ON) – On February 3, 2012 at approximately 9:24 a.m. officers from Huron, South Bruce and Wellington OPP detachments responded to a suspicious vehicle occurrence located at Huron-Bruce Road in Howick Township. The property owner reported a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was stuck behind his barn with a male driver inside.
As officers arrived they observed the driver of the Silverado running toward another pickup truck parked at the scene. Officers attempted to stop the male however he fled in a stolen Ford pickup.
Police officers followed the male for a distance until officers terminated the chase. A short time later, the male drove the pickup off the roadway and struck a tree in the Town of Harriston. Officers then chased the male on foot and were able to locate and arrest the male in Harriston.
The male is currently in Huron OPP custody and is awaiting a show cause hearing. Further information will be released when details become available.
