Suspicious person call

On January 17, 2014 at approximately 12:40 a.m., the Guelph Police attended to a Tobey Avenue residence to investigate a suspicious person complaint. It is alleged that shortly before midnight, a female rang the doorbell. When the resident answered, the female said her daughter has had an asthma attack and her husband who has their debit card is out of town and she needed cash to fill a prescription at Shoppers before it closed at midnight. The resident did turn over some cash to assist this female. It is believed that this incident was most likely a scam.

The Guelph Police would suggest that caution be taken when people that you do not know come to your door.
