(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On Thursday August 31, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Wellington North Fire Services responded to a suspicious abandoned crate in a vacant lot behind a business on Durham Street West, Mount Forest. Workers discovered a wooden crate that had suspicious contents in it that could not be identified as non-hazardous.
Emergency Services removed the potentially hazardous materials, including spent fuel tanks and fertilizers. All closures have been opened.
OPP continue to investigate the source of the package, however nothing indicates that it’s placement was meant to be malicious.
