Suspended Drunk Driver Caught In North Perth – Name Released

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Sunday June 11, 2016, around 1 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol in Listowel observed a GMC pickup truck being operated at the intersection of Elma St West and Nelson Ave South.

The officers observed that the pickup truck remained stopped at the stop sign longer than usual, and accelerated from its stop very slowly. The pickup truck was pulled over by the officers, and while speaking with the lone male occupant signs of impairment were noted. The male was transported to the Wellington County OPP Detachment in Teviotdale where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests. It was also discovered that the male was a suspended driver as determined by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.

He faces an additional charge of “driving under suspension”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on July 13, 2016, where he will answer to the charges. His pickup truck was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a period of seven days.
