Suspended Driver With No Insurance And Wrong Plates Crashes Into Hydro Pole

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Monday March 19, 2012 shortly after 9:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a collision on Line 10 between Road 151 and Road 161 (east of Kirkton).

Investigation revealed that a Pontiac Transport Van had been traveling west bound on Line 10 when the vehicle drove off the edge of the pavement onto the soft shoulder. The vehicle was pulled into the north ditch and struck a hydro pole. The van came to a stop on a private driveway.

The 52 year old female driver from South Huron did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash but damage to the vehicle and pole was extensive. The impact snapped the hydro pole and caused a minor power outage. Hydro One attended and repaired the damaged pole.

The driver has been charged with “operating a motor vehicle without insurance”, “driving while under suspension”, and “use plate not authorized for vehicle”. She is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on April 24, 2012 to answer to these charges.
