Suspended Driver Crashes Stolen Snowmobile – Ryan BAILLIE Arrested

(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – A member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was flagged down by a citizen on December 13, 2017 following a collision involving a snowmobile in the Township of Perth South.

The snowmobile and male driver were located on Perth Line 26. No other motor vehicles were involved.

An investigation revealed that the snowmobile was stolen. As a result, twenty-five-year old Ryan BAILLIE of the Municipality of West Perth was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Careless Driving and Driving While Under Suspension.

He was transported to Stratford General Hospital for minor injuries sustained during the collision and was released on an Appearance Notice. He is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.

With the snowmobile season upon us, the Perth County OPP are reminding riders that a valid driver’s licence, ownership slip, validation sticker and insurance are required. Always wear an approved helmet, and stop before crossing every road and railway track. Stay on designated trails and obtain a permit. Obey posted speed limits and carry an emergency survival kit, including a charged cell phone.

Riders can expect to see the Perth County OPP conducting snowmobile patrols across the county throughout the winter months. When operating a snowmobile this winter, please do your part to ensure that the trails remain safe for everyone. Don’t drink and ride; it is never worth the risk.
