Suspended Driver Caught – Police Remind Drivers About Birthday Stickers And Pink Slips

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) –On January 30, 2017 at 8:26 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Bruce Road 13, in South Bruce Peninsula.

Police investigation revealed the driver’s licence was suspended for unpaid fines. A 37-year-old female driver from Georgian Bluffs has been charged with driving while under suspension, section 53 (1) of the Ontario Highway traffic Act (HTA).

A few good tips for all drivers is to ensure all documentation for your vehicles are up-to-date and ensure any previous infractions have been addressed including:

Keeping a valid “pink” insurance slip with you when driving.

Before your birthday, purchase a new sticker for your vehicle licence plate and be sure to place the small sticker on the back of your “green” vehicle ownership/permit. This will validate your permit.

Always carry your driver’s license with you when driving. Ensure it is valid. If you move residences, you have 6 days to update your new address on your driver’s license. Don’t forget to update your insurance and your vehicle permit.

Another helpful tip is not to leave original documents in your vehicle. A photocopy of your documents, front and back, will suffice.

If you do receive a ticket, be sure to read the back of the blue portion you receive on the roadside. You will have 15 days to choose one of the three options explained on the back. If you do not choose one of the options and don’t pay the ticket; your driver’s licence will be suspended for unpaid fines.

Drive Safe.
