Suspended Driver Busted Again

(Innisfil, ON) The legal problems for a 32 year old Innisfil man continue to compound. In March 2016, the Ministry of Transportation suspended the man’s drivers licence after he failed to pay his fine from a previous traffic ticket. On June 15th, the man was stopped by South Simcoe Police for a Highway Traffic Act violation and charged with Driving While Under Suspension. He was issued a summons to appear in court in August.

On Thursday, June 23rd, around 11:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police were conducting traffic enforcement on the 5th Side Road, north of Innisfil Beach Road. A Constable observed a Black Hummer travelling northbound and conducted a routine drivers plate check. The check revealed that the plates on the car had expired over 3 year ago. The car was pulled over and the officer discovered it was the same man from the previous occurrences.

The man is now facing a second charge of Driving While Under Suspension and will be appearing before a Justice of the Peace on August 10th, 2016 to explain himself.

You may not drive, under any circumstances, when your licence is suspended. If you are convicted of driving while your licence is suspended for an Highway Traffic Act offence you will have to pay a fine of $1,000 to $5,000 for a first offence and $2,000 to $5,000 for a subsequent offence. (A “subsequent” offence is when you are convicted again within five years.) The court can order you to spend up to six months in jail, or you may have to pay a fine or do both.
