Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are seeking witnesses and any information regarding two suspects that were involved in a sexual assault in the Town of Richmond Hill.
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, sometime between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., a female victim was walking in the area of Crosby Avenue west of Newkirk Avenue when she was approached by two unknown men. The men threw the victim to the ground, rifled through her belongings then sexually assaulted her.
The suspects are described as:
Male
16 to 25 years
5’8” to 5’10”
Thin builds
Wearing dark clothing with hoodies
Anyone that may have knowledge of this incident or anyone that may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area, are asked to contact investigators immediately. Police are also urging anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check video footage and see if it may have captured images of the suspects.
A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
