(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the weekend robberies of two motels and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible.
On September 24, 2016, at approximately 11:30 pm, a lone male suspect entered a motel situated along the 1200 block of Michael Street. The suspect entered brandishing a handgun and made a demand for cash. The suspect was provided an undisclosed quantity of money and fled the premises. Investigators believe a vehicle was parked nearby.
A short time later, September 25, 2016 at approximately 12:15 am, a lone male suspect entered a motel situated along the 200 block of Hearst Way in Kanata. The suspect again entered brandishing a handgun and made a demand for cash. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of money. Witnesses report seeing the suspect flee to a white vehicle described as possibly being a 2 door Nissan. The vehicle had a noticeably loud muffler.
There were no injuries in either robbery. It is unclear at this time if the suspect acted alone or if he had a driver in the vehicle that assisted in the commission of these two robberies.
The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, slim to medium build, approximately 5’8-6’0″(173 cm – 178 cm). He was wearing dark jeans
