(WALKERTON, ON) – Members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Hartley House hotel, located at 7 Jackson Street in Walkerton, Ontario following up on a male party with an outstanding warrant around 10:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
While waiting for the occupant of the room to open the door for police, officers heard what sounded like a window opening and some commotion inside. A third officer responded to the rear of the hotel and located the male suspect on the ground with injuries to his legs allegedly caused by a fall from the third story window.
The male party was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries with injuries to his lower extremities and remains in hospital.
The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked its mandate. Though a parallel OPP criminal investigation is underway, further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
